Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this paper is to report observations showing that air injected under normal pressure into the anterior chamber of rabbits can induce rapid rise of ocular tension.
We measure the ocular tension every 5 minutes till 1 hour after injection of air into the anterior chamber.
Experimental animals are divided into following groups.
1) Injection of air into the anterior chamber only.
2) Instillation of 10% phenylephrine sol. before injection of air into the anterior chamber.
3) Instillation of 1% atropine sol. before injection of air into the anterior chamber.
4) Instillation of 1% pilocarpine sol. before injection of air into the anterior chamber.
Increase of intraocular tension about 45-50mm Hg in all groups except the group, of 10% phenylephrine instillation group.
No significant difference of intraocular tension between 1% atropine sol. instillation group and 1% pilocarpine instillation group. The possible explanations of no increase of intraocular tension in 10% phenylephrine sol. instillation group was discussed.
